Törggelen in South Tyrol

Törggelen is a culinary tradition in South Tyrol. In numerous inns and wine taverns, traditional dishes are served from the beginning of October to the end of November after the grape harvest.


These include tasty homemade dishes such as Gerst soup, slaughter platters with sur meat, sauerkraut, sausages and dumplings. Mostly sweet must, also called "Sußer", and young wine, the so-called "Nuier", are drunk.


And if you are still not full, you can eat roasted chestnuts ("Keschtn") and sweet doughnuts as dessert.
